1) Conduct welcoming, open and transparent meetings wherein each residents’ opinion can be heard without fear of being embarrassed or removed from the meeting.
2) Implement dramatic changes to our Police Department which will reduce crime, increase police presence and patrols, reduce speed and eliminate dangerous cut-through traffic.
3) Undo zoning code changes that have been implemented to benefit billionaires, speculators, house flippers and unscrupulous developers.
4) Reverse the current administration’s neglect of the FPL undergrounding project approved by voters two years ago.
5) Reverse the current administration’s neglect for the anti-flooding project put in place by the previous commission.
6) Finish the 96th Street Park, approved, designed, and funded by previous commissions.
7) Stand against candidates who have said "the days of Surfside being a quaint, quiet town are behind us”and those who've said that they plan to “take over” our Town.
8) Truly solve Condo owners' dilema regarding huge assessments, structural work & the risk of
losing their homes to rapacious developers, not simply organizing meetings for photo ops that do little or nothing.
9) Stand for Unity, Inclusion, Tolerance and Respect – for all residents.
10) Reduce water bills.
11) Update our Charter to PERMANENTLY PROHIBIT:
***
Multifamily development in the residential district,
Zoning that could result in high-rises on Harding Avenue,
Hotels which are not on the ocean,
Pay or other goodies for elected officials,
Cookie-cutter, identical home development,
Zoning variances which reduce setbacks on Harding & Collins Avenue,
Zoning laws which allow houses & buildings to be built with insufficient yard, green and open space.
***
12) Immediately implement the green pathways on every residential street.
13) Reverse the current commission’s disrespectful treatment of the 98 families whose relatives perished in the Champlain collapse and honor the promises made, including the construction of the promised Memorial – without a trash facility next to it.
14) Reappoint new members to every town board and committee. Appoint Residents who have committed to preserving our small-town way of life, while continuing to make life better in our town.
We look forward to implementing, or beginning to implement the foregoing within the first 100 days of our term of office.
